Margaret Lisi

MARGARET LISI began her studies in her native Wisconsin before completing her formal training at UCLA. She went on to become an Apprentice Artist at Portland Opera, Chautauqua Opera, and Greater Miami Opera, where she received the distinguished Gilbert Artists Award. Lisi, a mezzo-soprano, has performed a wide variety of roles ranging from Cherubino to Carmen. In recent seasons she has sung

  • Stéphano in Romeo and Juliette (Florida Grand Opera)
  • Mother in the World Premiere ofVictoria Bond’s Travels (Opera Roanoke)
  • Flora (Chautauqua Opera) and Annina (Sacramento Opera) in La Traviata
  • the title role of La Cenerentola (West Bay Opera)
  • Maddalena in Rigoletto (Pamiro Opera), and
  • Suzuki in Madama Butterfly (Boheme Opera, NJ).

For San Francisco's Pocket Opera, she sung Dorabella in Così fan tutte, Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro, Arsamene in Xerxes, and Medea in Teseo.

Well known in the concert arenas, Lisi has performed Mozart’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Bach’s Magnificat and Mass in B Minor. In addition to her award from Greater Miami Opera, Lisi has received a First Place Award from the East Bay Opera League and the Opera Division Award from the NATS Vocal Festival, and was a regional finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
